Our history

We innovate

KUMA Brakes was founded in 2010 by wind power sector engineers with a focus on designing innovative and superior brake pads to supply local manufacturers. In collaboration with Université Laval and Technische Universität Berlin, it took 5 years of research and development to find the perfect friction material combination.

We design

In 2015, we were ready to design high performance brake pads and opened our production facility in Quebec, Canada. Through 100% in-house production capabilities and our comprehensive replacement parts offering, KUMA Brakes becomes the one-stop-shop for all wind turbine brake pads needs.

We perform

Over the years, we have expanded our production internationally and developed long term relationships with the leaders in the global wind turbine OEM market. Actually, KUMA Brakes’ brake pads are in operation on more than 50% North American wind turbines and continue to reach new heights across the globe.

The driving force behind our success.
